Battery types & usage
The first battery was invented by Alessandro Volta in 1800 and since then batteries have become a key power source for many household and industrial applications.
A battery is consisted of one or more electrochemical cells that convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy, through the production and flow of electrons.
There are two basic battery categories:
- Primary batteries which are for single use and
- Secondary (or rechargeable) batteries which are for repeated use.
Only secondary (or rechargeable) batteries that have a “Rechargeable” indication can be recharged.
